Marcus Agrippa Made This

Wow ...

It's really late now -- about two am.

I've just been walking all around Rome on this beautiful night, snapping pictures.

Photos below.

After I left the hotel, I grabbed some dinner at a little pizzeria near the Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore.

It's Sunday night. The only restaurants that were open in the neighborhood were pizza places and they were all packed ... with tourists like me. I guess all of the local people are eating their Sunday meal at home. The pizza was good, though. Pizza places in New York should figure out how to make the crust of the pizza both thin and crispy at the same time, rather than thin and soggy.

Following the pizza, I strolled down in the direction of the Trevi Fountain, just enjoying the beautiful night. From there, I went to the Pantheon, to the Piazza Navona, over to the Tiber and then up to the Ara Pacis -- which is housed in a sleek new museum with glass walls that give views onto the monument. From the Ara Pacis, I walked to the Spanish Steps and then back to the hotel.

I sat for at least an hour at a cafe in front of the Pantheon, enjoying a coffee and a water -- nine euros -- well, I was paying for the view rather than for the coffee.

My camera takes terrible night time photos. I think that the only one that came out really well was the one of the Pantheon, which is one of my favorite buildings in Rome.

What a great night.

I'm getting into bed now. Tomorrow, I'm going to stroll about in the daylight with my camera and the map I got at the desk of the hotel when I checked in. Later in the afternoon, I'll get on the train to Naples.
